Althorne

This shows some pictures of the village of Althorne in Essex. The B1010 road runs through much of the village and it seved by rail with the Southminster Branch Line (also known as the Crouch Valley Line), which runs from Wickford to Southminster, stopping at Battlesbridge, Woodham Ferrers, Fambridge, Althorne, Burham-on-Crouch and finally Southminster. The journey time from Liverpool St. to Althorne is approximatly one hour by train - a little less in the peak periods and a little more at weekends. The off-peak trains stop at more stations between Wickford and Liverpool St, so obviously the journey takes longer. Some trains in the evening peak from Liverpool St. do not stop until Wickford.
